Dr. John Lovberg, President and CEO

Dr. John Lovberg is Sago Systems’ President and Chief Executive Officer.  Dr. Lovberg pioneered the development of millimeter-wave imaging technology and is the recipient of numerous patents in this field.  He has led Sago Systems’ team since it was established in late 2004 and oversees the commercialization of Sago’s products.

Prior to leading Sago Systems, Inc., Dr. Lovberg was the Chief Technology Officer of Sago’s parent company, Trex Enterprises Corporation (Trex) and its subsidiary, Loea Corporation.  At Trex, Dr. Lovberg led several R&D teams and product development groups. He led his technical team in creating the revolutionary passive millimeter-wave technology first developed for the U.S. Army Research Laboratory.

Dr.Lovberg applied his groundbreaking research in millimeter imaging, to the development of the E-band multi-gigabit wireless radio frequency technology. He authored a petition for Federal Communications Commission rulemaking at 71-76 and 81-86 GHz.  This petition convinced the FCC to make available for commercial use the largest increment of communication bandwidth in the FCC history. The E-band radios operate with extremely narrow beams permitting the same frequencies to be used in an almost unlimited number of radio links without interfence. Dr. Lovberg’s millimeter-wave wireless radio invention led to the creation of Loea Corporation, a subsidiary of Trex Enterprises, which is the first company in the nation creating high-speed radios operating in the 71-86 GHz frequency able to transmit 1.25 and more gigabits of information

Dr. Lovberg joined Trex's predessor, Thermo Electron Technologies in 1991.  He received his Doctoral degree in Astrophysics from Princeton University and his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from California Institute of Technology. 

He is the author of numerous publications in MMW technology.
